The city that was rated the Worse in America is now on the rise
Citizens of Detroit have endured so much loss that now it's time to gain
The history of Detroit and the pain the communities have endured
The city of Detroit is one like no other. It has also has experienced oppression on a level of degree that some could not even imagine. Besides the high murder, unemployment rate, and homeless rate the sports as well as being used to be tourist city. The downfall of the auto industry and the crash of the housing market made it tremendously hard for the local Detroit residents. With no jobs how can families afford to pay for their homes which ended up going into foreclosure crippled their economy. The economy of Detroit was already fragile due to the corruption of the education system and the city officials made it even more susceptible to an increase in violent crimes. Then the state of Michigan allows the city to go bankrupt giving the failing market a global black eye.Now fast forward a years to now
Since going bankrupt, the once failing economy and once murder capital has seen a increase in jobs but a decrease in murders. The reason people are asking how? I give you three reasons. These are the most crucial reasons as if theirs any other reason. The first reason is the focal point of this city future success and growth. The city of Detroit have a spirit like no other. The tough scrappy do whatever it takes mentality has created environment and mentality "Detroit vs. Everybody". This mentality has created a ripple of effect of progress. Progress that might be hard to see if your a) Enduring the pain of the circumstances around you or b) you on the outside looking in seeing only the publicized crime and poverty.
Secondly lets start with Detroit Public Schools, people see the teacher strikes and decaying school structures guess what goes missin? The talented achievements of the students that are making the most out of the least amount of resources. Sport wise, students from Detroit have dominated school sports. Consistently a Detroit native or a Detroit Public School has one a state championship. For example the nationally known powerhouses Cass Tech High (State Champions, featured in Adidas sport commercial) and Detroit King High School which was featured on ESPN top plays for one o thee most amazing endzone catches.
If we are going to talk ESPN top plays we must include Teo Reddings ESPN Top Play one handed catch (WR from Bowling Green). Have you noticed the recent success of the Michigan and Michigan State which are powerhouses in the Big Ten. Who recruits consist of players from the city of Detroit, even their rival Ohio State seemingly recruits the top prospects from Detroit. The Detroit Pistons have also been on the bounce back going to playoffs even tho they faced the NBA Champions Cavaliers in the first round. Maybe the NFC Division leaders Detroit Lions can be another success story since losing Calvin Johnson Jr.
Lastly, lets move to business and city redevelopment that is occurring around the Metro Detroit area. There is the new downtown business district that will be home to the new Red Wings arena that will also serve home to the Detroit Pistons in the future. This will help bring tourist and tourist dollars toward downtown Detroit. Investors such as the owner Quickens Loans, Dan Gilbert has bought up a chunk of Detroit downtown commercial real estate. Due to its failed market , the properties are selling at insane low prices making it easily obtainable to those who can pay. You see new businesses opening up all over the downtown midtown area.Even Mark Whalberg opened his own restaurant in the Detroit Greek Town section calling it Whalburgers. The city is definitly on the rise no one is just talking about it so even the people there sometimes cant notice.
